AdrenaCort supplies freeze-dried,
BSE-free, adrenal cortex, along with
a complex of factors that support
the function of the adrenal glands. Pantothenic acid and vitamin C are required for adrenocortical steroid synthesis, and licorice contains compounds that inhibit the catabolism of glucocorticoids, thus extending their life and activity. Bioflavonoids are added for their ascorbic acid-enhancing effects.
-
AdrenaCort supplies a complex of factors that support the function of the adrenal glands, particularly the adrenal cortex.
.
-
Animal studies have shown oral adrenal extracts to produce similar effects as injectable extracts (Boll Chim Farm 1971;110:457-62).
-
Licorice contains compounds with mineralocorticoid activity that reduce the catabolism of glucocorticoids, thus extending their life and activity in the body (Endocrinology 1993;132:2287-92; Endocrin Regulations 1994;28:31-4).
-
Micronutrients known to be important for normal adrenal function include vitamin C, vitamin B5 (d-calcium pantothenate), magnesium, and zinc (Textbook
of Natural Medicine, 1999, 549).

Comprehensive formula for premenstrual health
Product # 7101 |
90 Tablets |
Tablet |
NutriGyn combines specific botanical extracts, freeze-dried glandulars, vitamins and minerals to help maintain a normal premenstrual hormonal balance. Several clinical studies have confirmed the benefits of chaste berry (Vitex agnus-castus) extracts, vitamin B6, and magnesium for promoting normal regulation of mood, fluid balance, breast physiology, and overall comfort during the latter portion of the menstrual cycle. Traditional remedies Dong quai (Angelica sinensis), wild yam (Dioscorea villosa), and three supportive glandulars are included for a comprehensive formula supporting premenstrual health.
-
Vitex agnus castus (chaste berry) increases the pituitary’s production of LH, which boosts the production of progesterone during the luteal phase, helping to normalize the hormone levels during the menstrual cycle (Arzneimittelforschung 1993;43:752–6).
-
Double-blind trials have found Vitex effective for maintaining physiological balance in terms of mood regulation, fluid balance, and overall comfort during the latter portion of the menstrual cycle (BMJ 2001;20:134–7; Arch Gynecol Obstet 2000;264:150-3;
J Womens Health Gend Based Med 2000;9:315-20).
-
Vitamin B6 has been found to balance physiological function during the latter portion of the menstrual cycle in most clinical studies (J Womens Health Gend Based Med 2000;9:131-9; BMJ 1999;318:1375–81).
-
Magnesium is frequently low in women with premenstrual discomfort (Ann Clin Biochem 1986;23:667–70); supplementation has supported normal mood regulation, fluid balance, and overall comfort (J Am Coll Nutrition 2000;19:3-12;
J Womens Health 1998;7:1157–65).
-
Dong quai has a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a component of women’s herbal formulas (Chin Med J 1991;104:776–81).

Highest potency pancreatic enzymes
Product # 3107 |
60 capsules |
gelatin |
PancreMax provides a strong 9X concentration of pancreatic amylase, protease and lipase enzymes from freeze-dried porcine source, for reliable support of the intestinal phase of digestion. Adequate protease activity ensures thorough breakdown of food proteins for optimal amino acid absorption and for avoiding inappropriate absorption
of food antigens. High lipase activity supports absorption of essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins, and prevents complaints associated with eating high-fat meals.
-
Individuals with pancreatic insufficiencies excrete undigested fats and proteins in their stools and, as a result, also lose essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins (J Clin Gastroenterol 1999;28:3-10).
-
Supplementary proteases ensure proper protein digestion, helping to reduce potentially allergic food proteins to hypoallergenic free amino acids (Inflamm Res 2002;51:S13-4).
-
High lipase activity is essential for preventing complaints associated with eating high-fat meals (Dig Dis Sci 1999;44:1317–21).

Balanced thymus tissue complex for immune support
Product # 9202 |
60 capsules |
gelatin |
The thymus gland is critical to immuno-competence. The thymus secretes a family of polypeptide hormones that
act on the structures and functions of the cellular immune apparatus, such as the maturation of precursors into fully competent T-cells. Age-related atrophy results in reduced thymus activity in later years. ThyMune supplies thymus tissue polypeptides along with vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and Echinacea extract for a broad spectrum approach
to immune system support.
-
The thymus secretes a family of polypeptide hormones that act on the structures and functions of the cellular immune apparatus, such as the maturation of T-cell precursors into fully competent T-cells (J Immunopharmacol 1979;1:277-310).
-
Thymus function declines with age, correlating with atrophy of the gland itself, and with the progressive, age-related loss of normal immune regulation (Clin Exp Immunol 2001; 125:409-13, J Clin Immunol 2000; 20: 250-6).
-
Controlled clinical studies demonstrate that oral thymus supplements can have optimizing effects on immune function (Pediatr Med Chir 1990;12:229-32, Drug Today 1989; 25:337-62, Med Oncol Tumor Pharmacother 1989;6:5-9).
-
Optimum immune function is facilitated by adequate intake of vitamin C (Adv Nutr Res 1984;6:
19-45), beta-carotene (Proc Nutr Soc 1991;50:263-74), vitamin E (JAMA 1997;277:1380-6) and zinc (Fed Proc 1986;45:1474-9).
-
Extracts of Echinacea species contain polysaccharides, alkylamides/polyacetylenes and caffeic acid derivatives that have immune-stimulating effects such as proliferation of natural killer cells
and monocytes, activation of macrophages, and production of cytokines (Int J Immunopharmacol 1997;19:371-9; Immunpharmacol 1997;35:229-35; J Natl Cancer Inst 1989;81:669-75).

Glandular concentrate with factors for thyroid support
Product # 9203 |

ThyroPlex provides freeze-dried,
BSE-free, glandular tissues from thyroid, anterior pituitary, and hypothalamus.
L-tyrosine is a precursor of thyroglobulin which, when iodinated, produces thyroxine and other thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormone production is the sole purpose of iodine in human nutrition. Suboptimal dietary intakes of zinc, copper, or manganese can adversely affect thyroid hormone metabolism.
